Health, welfare, and responsible breeding practices
When you choose a Groodles Australia puppy, you’re choosing a breeder that puts health, welfare, and transparency first.
We align with the RSPCA’s standards for responsible dog breeding and are registered under the Queensland Government’s breeder registration scheme (BIN 0000221842105), established to combat puppy farms and unregistered breeders.
Health testing and vet-guided breeding
Every breeding dog in our program is DNA-tested, hip-scored, and elbow-scored before they’re bred. While no test can guarantee a puppy will be free from health issues, we do everything we can to limit inherited diseases and breed for long, healthy lives.
Our breeding program is guided by experienced veterinary professionals. All puppies receive regular health checks, vet-recommended vaccinations, and worming throughout their first eight weeks. Puppies are kept isolated from outside dogs during their early weeks to protect against contagious illnesses while their immune systems are still developing. We never breed close relatives — no brother/sister, father/daughter, mother/son, or cousin pairings. Our breeding dogs are never bred at their first heat and are always at full physical maturity before breeding begins. Mother dogs have a maximum of three litters in their lifetime and are given appropriate time to recover between litters.
Breeding for health and temperament, not just appearance
We don’t just breed for specific colours or looks. We breed for health and temperament — because our puppies are raised to be family companions and support dogs, not show dogs.
No dog or puppy from Groodles Australia will ever have its tail docked or dew claws removed.

High standards of care
Our breeding dogs live as beloved pets with their Champion Families — not in kennels or breeding facilities. These families provide high standards of living: high-quality food, appropriate space, and plenty of enrichment including toys and environmental stimulation. Our parent dogs are well-socialised with other dogs and people, which helps set our puppies up for success in becoming confident, friendly companions.
Responsible placement and ongoing support
Every litter is planned, and we go through a screening process to ensure puppies are matched with suitable homes. We take the time to understand your family, lifestyle, and what you’re looking for, and we try to match each puppy based on temperament and needs — not just colour preferences or waitlist position.
Before you take a puppy home, we’ll make sure you’re well-informed about their background, size, breed characteristics, and the temperament of their parents. We’re happy to answer all questions and provide access to registration and veterinary records — transparency is important to us.
Once you’ve been matched with a puppy, you’ll be given a direct contact person from our team to liaise with throughout the process and beyond.
To prevent puppy farming and protect the welfare of our dogs, all Groodles Australia puppies are sold under a desexing contract and are restricted from breeding outside our program.
Every puppy also comes with 30 days of free pet insurance.
If a puppy hasn’t found the right home within our usual timeframe, they’ll continue to live with their Champion Family or one of our passionate volunteers until the perfect match comes along. And if a placement doesn’t work out down the track — which is exceedingly rare — we’ll work with you to rehome your puppy. We’re committed to making sure every dog finds the right forever home.
